Formed 1942 to undertake research, engineering, and production of military aircraft. Orders during war included subassemblies for Northrop and Lockheed. In January 1943 received Northrop subcontract for three XP-79 jet fighters, one of which (MX-324) was the first American rocket-propelled aircraft to fly, on July 5,1944.
