De Havilland DH 81 Swallow Moth
On 24 August 1931 de Havilland had flown the only example of the de Havilland D.H.81 Swallow Moth, a low wing open-cockpit two-seater powered by a 60 kW (80hp) Gipsy IV engine. With production capacity filled by orders for various models of the Moth the project was discontinued, to be resurrected some years later when advantage could be taken of some structural techniques used in the Comet and Albatross, as the prototype D.H.94 Moth Minor.
